Value-based care has been a tremendous catalyst in Medicare and some commercial health plans, but Medicaid has lagged behind with such initiatives. The reasons for this are numerous. Among them are Medicaid’s low reimbursement rate compared to Medicare and commercial payers and ongoing enrollee churn (the resumption of the redetermination process last year after the pandemic caused more than 20 million to be cut from the rolls).

There have been some modest value-based care initiatives, but they are often “veneers” which make very modest improvements but do not fundamentally shift how care is delivered or significantly improve its quality.

This January 22, 2025 webinar addresses the question: Will value-based care ever be a significant component of Medicaid managed care? And if it does, what would it look like?
